Overall Rating

A stylish overhaul of an old building by people who understand what makes a great boutique hotel. A welcome addition to lower Manhattan and the Seaport district.

Rooms

Large rooms, large comfortable beds, good workspace and a moderately comfortable sofa. My only gripe is my room had a weird two window configuration - too high and too low for any view. Check the room carefully as it should be great view.

Beds

Large and comfortable in that reassuring American hotel bed sort of way.

Food & Beverage

Beautiful restaurant and bar along with a rooftop bar that the weather wasn't kind enough for (next time). Lively, mixed crowd at the bar and a very good experience in the restaurant. I've had better hotel breakfasts but a minor quibble.

Cleanliness

The very new renovation helps but everything was reassuringly spotless.

Service

A genuinely warm and friendly welcome when I arrived set the scene for great service all through my stay. They actually seemed pleased I was staying there (not always the case in NYC).

Location

For a business trip the Seaport district is the perfect mix of proximity to the office with the opportunity to enjoy NY. Not a bad option for a leisure trip as well. This area continues to improve with some great bar and restaurant options. The post-hurricane Sandy redevelopment is finally dividends.

Amenities

Carefully thought through amenities in the room including wine glasses and a wine knife which is always a winner. I really hate the table-top ironing boards however when I have to iron a week's worth of work shirts.

Description Accuracy

Overall, what was described and the hotel website's pictures were accurate. Just check the windows in the room you have booked.

Extras

The roof-top bar is always a winner in NY when the weather is nice.

Overall value

When I booked the hotel was slightly more than some other options however the overall quality and experience made it worthwhile. Increasingly there is a some solid competition in the area however.

Would I stay again?

Yes. I've spent more than 15 years looking for a go-to option in Lower Manhattan and never quite found it. Not sure if this is it yet but will definitely be back for another try.
